12th Graders - Assemblyman Nick Perry's Community Awareness Scholarship - (Application Due by e-mail May 13, 2011)



Brooklyn, NY – Assemblyman N. Nick Perry announced the start of the essay competition for his 2011 Annual Community Awareness College Scholarship Awards. The scholarship is for NYC high school seniors who reside in the 58th Assembly District (see district map below)and have applied for admission to an accredited college or university for the Fall 2011 semester.
Assemblyman N. Nick Perry’s 2011 Community Awareness Scholarship will include one (1) Grand Prize Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 and two (2) scholarships in the amount of $500. One of the three scholarships will be set aside for a graduating senior from the Samuel J. Tilden  Educational Campus.
Any student interested in participating in the competition will be required to submit a two-page essay on one of the following three topics: 1) If I Were an Elected Official, I Would Help to Improve...2) It Is Important To Participate in Community Activities Because... 3) A day in my life that most influenced me to create positive change was...
Applications and essays must be received by Friday, May 13, 2011 and should be emailed to: sheaf@assembly.state.ny.us
Assemblyman Perry who has represented the 58th Assembly District since 1993, remains dedicated to ensuring a higher education is available to all New Yorkers who desire to earn a degree, and has awarded dozens of students with scholarships since his election to the Assembly.
