Nationwide Kids' Science Challenge for 3rd - 6th Graders (Entry Deadline - February 28, 2011)
Click here > What is the Kids’ Science Challenge?The Kids’ Science Challenge is a free nationwide science competition for students in grades 3 to 6. Each year the Kids’ Science Challenge selects 3 science topics and a group of expert scientists and engineers. Kids learn about the topics and submit their own well-thought-out ideas, questions or problems to these scientists. There is one grand winner per topic. That student (or team) will visit and collaborate with the scientists and engineers in their research settings. There are also a wide variety of cool finalists awards in each topic.

A grand prize is given to a winning student (or team) in each of the science topics. The grand prize winner for each topic will win a trip to visit and work with a scientist or engineer to test their winning idea in a lab, workshop or research setting. You may enter in more than one science topic (Magical Microbes, Sensational Sounds, Super Stuff for Sports), but you must complete and submit a new application for each entry.
Students may enter as an individual or as a member of a team. Teams may be formed in classrooms, after-school groups, or other community organizations. In the case of a team entry only, team members will work with a mentor to guide them through the team entry process. The mentor will supply the entrant with a unique team name that must be provided in the Entry Application. Working with a mentor, the team will come up with a unique team name that must be included with the application. You may not enter as an individual if you have already joined a team in coordination with a team mentor. NOTE: In the case of a Team submitting a winning entry, only 1 Team member will be entitled to a Grand Prize and other Team members will receive other prizes. Click here > for the
